An exceptionally rare 20.08-carat type IIB blue diamond was recovered from the Cullinan mine
Using X-ray luminescent beneficiation technology developed by Bourevestnik, Petra Diamonds discovered a rare gem-quality type IIb blue diamond weighing 20.08 carats at the Cullinan mine.
The recent discovery proved once again that the use of X-ray fluorescent separators manufactured by IC Bourevestnik JSC ensures high reliability of recovery of diamonds of all types.
An exceptionally rare Type IIb blue diamond weighing 20.08 carats was extracted at the Cullinan mine on September 23, 2019.
This find proves that the Cullinan mine remains a unique global supplier of rare blue gemstones, and the plant's equipment provides the ability to recover the full range of diamonds.
Currently, 10 X-ray luminescent separators manufactured by Bourevestnik, JSC are used at the large Cullinan concentrator, allowing to enrich ordinary ore of -75 +8 mm grade without the use of TSU. The above-mentioned type II diamond was detected due to the use of primary enrichment separator LS-20-05NL and finalization separator LS-OD-50-04-03.
